2. Titled “Social networks rivaling newspaper sites for breaking news, survey suggests” Posted: 13 August 2010 By: Laura Oliver
3. Found it on the website http://www.journalism.co.uk by searching “ social network competitors”
4. This article suggests that a survey taken of 1,000 people in the UK revealed many people use social networks as their main source of news. Since our project is targeting the college community who have the stereotype of being disconnected to worldly events, our business plan may be able to use our social networking site as a median for college goers to become more aware of the news through a form that is already familiar to them. Particularly we would focus on the breaking news occurring on our campus but can have excerpts that touch on larger issues from around the world. This article has a lot of helpful statistics for example it states that females tend to get their news from social networking sites more often than men. The idea of using social networking as a reliable news source seems to be a growing and new phenomenon, meaning if we catch on early we may have an edge over competitors.
